BreaktheTide sponsor two initiatives to support Daya’s domestic violence survivor clients:
1. Professional driving lesson, and
2. Prepaid cell phones (Tracfones) with 12-month service plans for multiple Daya clients.
The driving lessons will include a learner’s permit, behind-the-wheel training sessions, and a road test to obtain a full driver’s license. Daya will provide Tracfones with 12-month service plans, enabling the survivors to access unlimited talk, text, and data services.
Interim Update
January, 2026 Update
Four Tracfones with $40 Prepaid 30-Day Smartphone Plan: Unlimited Talk/Text + 20GB High-Speed Data [Physical Card].
October, 2025 Update
With the funds received from BreaktheTide, Daya procured three tracphones for $60 each with 1200 Talk time and 1200 Text with 3GB Data for 365 Day Plan.

August 01, 2025 Update
According to the grant agreement, BreaktheTide awarded an initial grant of $750.00 to Daya to support one driving lesson and the purchase of Tracfones with service plans.
As part of this initiative, Daya sponsored a driving lesson for a 38-year-old domestic violence survivor from Jordan. For privacy and safety reasons, she is referred to here as Ms. T. As of this interim update, Ms. T has successfully obtained her Learner’s Permit and is highly motivated to pursue her full driver’s license.
Of the grant funds, $240.00 was allocated for the purchase of Tracfones and associated service plans. Daya has since purchased two Tracfones at a total cost of $79.76. However, due to recent price increases for both the devices and service plans, Daya plans to procure additional Tracfones with either 3-month or 6-month service plans, depending on each client’s specific needs.
The accompanying pie chart illustrates the financial breakdown of the initial $750.00 grant, reflecting expenditures to date and remaining funds.
Interim Update
January, 2026 Update
Daya purchased 4 tracfones with service plans for the survivors.
October, 2025 Update
In October 2025, Daya provided a Tracfone and service plan card to a survivor. She arrived from her home country and did not have a US phone number. She was using Whatsapp to make and receive calls. But when she was filing for a Protective Order, the court required a US-based phone number to contact.
Daya purchased a Tracfone and annual subscription for Ms. S with the funds provided by BreaktheTide and that helped get a US-based phone number quickly and seamlessly.
Testimonial of Ms. T:
“I sincerely want to thank you and the entire team for your support in helping me take driving lessons at Falcon Driving School. I truly appreciate the effort and kindness shown by everyone involved in making this possible for me. These lessons have already made a big difference in my life. With just two classes, I gained enough confidence to practice driving nearly 100 miles yesterday using a friend’s car. That experience gave me a strong sense of independence and belief in myself. I am still continuing my lessons and preparing for my road test so that I can obtain my permanent driver’s license. Being able to drive is extremely important for my job, as I work in Sales and Marketing, and my role requires regular travel. This support is not just helping me learn a skill, but it is enhancing my ability to grow professionally, earn more, and stand confidently on my own feet. Your encouragement and assistance are empowering me to rebuild my life with dignity and strength. It gives women like me, who have faced difficult struggles and challenges, the opportunity to move forward independently and create a better future. I truly hope that Daya and BreaktheTide will continue extending this kind of support to many more women who need empowerment and a chance to rebuild their lives after difficult circumstances. Programs like this change lives in very real and meaningful ways. Thank you once again for believing in me and supporting my journey toward independence.”
Testimonial of Ms. S:
“To Daya and Break the Tide,
Dear lovely Team❤️

Thank you so much for gifting me this cell phone and SIM. It has truly been a great help for me here in America, allowing me to make calls easily and stay connected. I am sincerely grateful from the bottom of my heart for your kind and generous gesture.
May Allah bless you and your organisation abundantly, and may you always continue to help those who are in need. Insha’Allah, Ameen.❤️
With all my heart, I send prayers and love to all those who supported me, whether seen or unseen, directly or indirectly.🫂
With heartfelt thanks”.
August, 2025 Update
A driver’s license represents a critical gateway to independence for Ms. T, a 38-year-old woman from Jordan who sought help from Daya after escaping an abusive relationship and entering a domestic violence shelter.
With Daya’s comprehensive support, Ms. T was able to develop a safety plan, secure stable housing, and initiate legal custody proceedings for her young son. Daya also provided essential financial assistance, including a laptop for job search, groceries, diapers, and gas gift cards—all aimed at helping her rebuild her life.
With funding from BreaktheTide, Daya covered the cost of driving lessons to support Ms. T’s path toward economic self-sufficiency. She has since earned the required certificate and successfully obtained her Learner’s Permit. She is now highly motivated to earn her full driver’s license, which will significantly expand her employment opportunities and personal freedom.
In addition, Daya purchased two Tracfones for a total of $79.76. Due to increased service plan costs, the organization now plans to purchase 3-month or 6-month service plans instead of the initially intended 12-month plans, based on each client’s specific needs.
With the funding from BreaktheTide, Daya procured three additional tracfones to support its clients in the Survivor Safety and Empowerment program.
“This phone has been so important for my safety. My abuser has broken my phone with the intention of stopping me from calling 911. Now, I have a phone that he does not know about that will let me make emergency calls and communicate with my advocate. I feel much safer knowing I have this just in case.”
– Ms. SB, Daya client
