Blanket Donation in January 2026
January 2026 marked an unusually cold winter in Bangladesh, particularly in the northern and western regions of the country. In response, BreaktheTide partnered with Sporsho Foundation to distribute more than 250 warm blankets to vulnerable communities.
Blankets were distributed to villagers in Shariatpur District near Barishal in southwestern Bangladesh. In addition, visually impaired students at the University of Dhaka and several nearby educational institutions received blankets. A number of visually impaired students at Jahangirnagar University also received the warm blankets, including several Sporsho Jyoti scholarship recipients.
Representatives of Sporsho Foundation and volunteers carried out the distributions in Shariatpur and at Jahangirnagar University. Nazia Jabeen of Sporsho Foundation and Sarah Ahmad Abedin of BreaktheTide distributed blankets at the Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka, on January 17, 2026.
