BreaktheTide is giving an academic scholarship to Ms. M for her to take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); IELTS exam fee and State of Maryland Nursing License Board fee. Ms. M is a client of Community Compassion of USA (CC-USA), a nonprofit organization in Maryland, USA.
Ms. M is the eldest daughter of six children of Mr. & Mrs. M, a displaced family from Syria residing in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. M is the sole wage earner and recently underwent major surgery in March 2025, reducing his ability to work long hours. Although he continues to work 12-hour shifts six days a week, any interruption to his schedule creates financial hardship for the family.
By becoming licensed as a RN in Maryland, Ms. M will be able to provide financial stability and critical support to her family.

BreaktheTide will sponsor an academic scholarship grant to Ms. M, a Registered Nurse (RN) originally from Syria and currently licensed as an RN in the State of New Mexico.
To qualify for an RN License in the State of Maryland, Ms. M must:
- Complete the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) preparation course and pass the IELTS examination.
- Submit her credentials to the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFN).
- Undergo a background check as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
Interim Update
Ms. M registered for the IELTS course at Inlingua Washington DC in September 02, 2025 and she is finishing up the course on December 15, 2025. She is planning to take the exam in January 2026. The cost for the IELTS course was $1,475.00.
Ms. M registered for the Inlingua course for IELTS course. Her last session is scheduled for Dec. 15, 2025. Ms. M is planning to take the IELTS exam in the beginning of January 2026.
In the meantime CC-USA has paid for her CGFN transcript verification. Ms. M already got her Maryland Board of Nursing license and she is currently a registered nurse as of October 25, 2025 and it expires on January 28, 2028. BreaktheTide reimbursed Ms. M’s Maryland License fee.
